Fish and sea food (kai moana) are plentiful off our beaches, generally easy to gather and our coast boasts some of the best Big Game Fishing in the country with excellent opportunities for divng and sailing. The northern current sweeping down our north and east coasts and off the Karikari Peninsular contain some subtropical varieties of fish that cannot be found elsewhere in the country and provide us with great recreational diving opportunities and access to some of the best fishing grounds in the world.
