Residents of Kaitaia and Mangonui in the True Far North of New Zealand enjoy the pleasure of living in the warmest part of this country which gives us a steadily growing population and a wide range of new residents looking for our pleasant lifestyle, beautiful beaches, easy access to harbours and Beaches and our fishing spots.

Kaitaia Township is a bustling community and the service centre for the Far North, servicing smaller rural communities like Broadwood, Herekino, Mangamuka and Pamapuria to the south, Awanui, Waipapakauri, Kaimaumau, Pukenui to the north and Kaingaroa, Peria, and Doubtless Bay including Cable Bay, Coopers Beach & Mangonui to the east.

Situated just 15kms from the west coast’s 90 Mile Beach and an easy half hour drive to the east coast beaches and harbours. In fact Kaitaia can boast to have 40 beaches within 40 minutes drive, many of them being a surfer’s haven with Ahipara claiming one of New Zealand’s longest breaks. Fish and shell food (kai moana) are plentiful off our beaches, generally easy to gather and our coasts boast some of the best Big Game Fishing in the country with excellent opportunities for diving and sailing. The northern current sweeping down our north and east coast and off the Whatuwhiwhi peninsular contain some subtropical varieties of fish that can not be found elsewhere in the country and provide us with great recreational diving opportunities and access to some of the best fishing grounds in the world.

There are a number of good golf courses in the area including Broadwood, Ahipara, Houhora, Whangaroa and of course Carrington on the Karikari Peninsula.  Squash, bowls, tennis, croquet are amongst other sporting activities the area offers.
